Friday chill and other stuff

Had a good working week. Still editing my new release which I hope to get out shortly. Been doing a lot of reading as well, but one of the things I’m most happy about this week is I’ve managed to keep up with my intensive yoga regimen, which was one of my New Year Resolutions.

“Stay close to anything that makes you glad you are alive.”

I already do a lot of fitness stuff, but I’ve never seen my yoga in quite the same fitness light. Yoga has always been so pleasurable, so relaxing, even if I’d noticed its leaning-out effects on my body, I never noticed really how big a part it has played in my life.

Yoga has been like this journey for me.

It has accompanied me through 4 pregnancies and kept me tuned into my body and mind in ways which, personally speaking, now feel really deep and spiritual. So, my new regimen is one of upping the hours, lovingly, and feeling grateful for all of the things it has taught me and continues to teach me about myself.

What I’m reading:

I read so many great books last year …

(some of my highlights, Angie Thomas’ ‘The Hate U Give’ to Taiye Selasi’s ‘Ghana Must Go’, Swing Time (Zadie Smith), Homegoing (Yaa Gyasi), Sing Unburied Sing (Jesmyn Ward))

… that

at the moment, I’m re-reading some of the greats. James Baldwin at present, and I plan to go back into Richard Wright, and some of the poetry of Audre Lourde. My TBR list just gets longer and longer …sigh.

Writing work:

I’m still editing my next release. A lot to do, but hope to get it out in a ‘lil bit, depending on my other commitments, trying to keep in mind that trying to,

Remain calm, serene, always in command of yourself.

You will then find out how easy it is to get along.”
